GBI Evaluations of Administrators, Teachers, and Other Employees
The Board and the School District are required to evaluate all administrators and teachers in the manner required by law to provide the best possible education for School District students. The School District uses evaluation instruments that are rigorous, transparent and fair to improve the performance of all administrators and teachers and encourage professional growth. The School Districtís evaluation system: informs retention and promotion decisions; compensation decisions; layoff and recall decisions; and, separation decisions in those cases where administrators and teachers continue to perform ineffectively, after notice and an opportunity to improve.
Administrator Evaluations - The Board is responsible for evaluating the Superintendent. The Superintendent, or designee, is responsible for evaluating central office and building administrators. The Superintendent will promulgate administrative regulations establishing the instrument that will be used to evaluate the central office and building administrators and may promulgate administrative regulations facilitating other aspects of the administrator evaluation process.
Teacher Evaluations - The building principal, or designee, is responsible for evaluating every teacher in his/her building. The Superintendent will promulgate administrative regulations establishing the instrument that will be used to evaluate teachers and may promulgate administrative regulations facilitating other aspects of the teacher evaluation process.
Other Evaluations - The Superintendent may promulgate administrative regulations concerning the evaluations of School District employees who are not administrators or teachers.
