KI Materials Distribution in Schools KI
The board reserves the right to refuse distribution of any material by outside individuals or groups to the students of the district. Distribution of any material to students at bus stops is prohibited.
Distribution of Promotional Materials
Any and all promotional materials (i.e., flyers) of outside groups must be submitted to the community education office for approval. Said approval may be qualified at the discretion of an individual building principal.
The principal of each building shall establish rules and regulations governing the distribution of promotional materials in the building.
Distribution of Religious Materials
The distribution of any religious materials, bound or unbound, is prohibited on school grounds or in any attendance facility before, during or after the school day or a school activity. Religious materials as prohibited herein may be described as, but not limited to, the following: any version of the Bible (including the Gideon Bible), translations of the Septuagint and the Apocrypha, Torah, Koran or any other similar religious books of faith, pamphlets, sectarian or denomination books, tracts, papers or other such materials including pictures, symbols, crosses, statues or icons.
Distribution of Political Campaign Materials
The board prohibits:
1. Any political or ballot proposal information from being distributed to students to take home if it endorses a candidate or attempts to influence the reader with respect to a given issue; and
2. The distribution of any political material by candidates for an elective office or by those acting on behalf of said candidate(s) (other than as allowed in employee master agreements) within district buildings or on district grounds, except as allowed by federal law on the day of an election.
Advertising in the Schools
No advertising of materials used for commercial purposes shall be permitted in the school buildings or on the grounds of the district without prior approval of the superintendent. Advertising in student publications shall be regulated by rules and regulations developed by the superintendent. Ads concerning drug paraphernalia and any controlled substance are prohibited in any school-sponsored publication.
